Tennessee  Drug Rehab Centers and Programs - Opiate Addicts Need Drug Rehab in Tennessee

Prescription painkillers, and opioids in general have developed quite a grasp on many individuals.  Painkillers are used for a slew of conditions related to pain, so many people are prescribed them.  Due to how highly addictive they are, many end up abusing them and become dependent upon them.  In fact according to the 2014 NSDUH (National Survey on Drug Use and Health) done by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), “4.3 million Americans engaged in non-medical use of prescription painkillers in the last month.”  This is an obscenely high number, and the even more unfortunate aspect of it is that many of these individuals then move to heroin due to it being cheaper and more easily available.   One particular area dealing with prescription painkillers is in the state of Tennessee.

The Battle with Prescription Painkillers in Tennessee

Tennessee is a state that is no stranger to the arduous battle with drug addiction.  Just as the entire country is seeing the struggle of individuals with opiates, as is Tennessee   This is an issue of some longevity that is not improving, but is actually worsening throughout the years.   Tennessee drug rehab centers continue to try to handle this problem, but despite that the numbers have continued to rise.  This bolsters the fact that more individuals need treatment than are receiving it.

According to CBS and data from an analysis done by the CDC, Tennessee is one of the top three prescribing states of painkillers.  This could be part of the problem in that far too many individuals are being prescribed these painkillers or staying on them too long, leading to addiction.  Overprescription can easily lead to a mass amount of individuals dependent upon these drugs, due to how highly addictive they are.  When trying to come off of these drugs, they may experience withdrawal symptoms, which some may recognize as such and others may not.  These symptoms can lead the person back to using the prescription painkiller to ease those symptoms.

Sometimes shame can play in as a factor in the struggle with prescription painkillers.  Someone could get prescribed these, end up becoming addicted, but not wanting to admit to themselves or anyone else that they have an addiction.  This leads to many not seeking out a treatment center in Tennessee when needed.

The numbers continuing to rise are indicative of the massive amount of people that are needing Tennessee rehab centers.  Some may not even realize they have become dependent upon these drugs, as they see it as just a needed medication.  Due to the lack of disclosure on the addictive risks of these medications, many do not realize what they are getting into when using these.  Hence, why it can end up in using them too long or taking them more than needed.

Tennessee drug rehab centers will have many different types of programs to help an individual overcome their addiction.  From inpatient, partial hospitalization, to outpatient, there are many different options.  Certain types of facilities are going to have much better and more comprehensive programs to fit an individual's specific needs, rather than a cookie cutter approach.  These are the types of facilities best suited for successful treatment of addiction.
